Details

Unit 1 – Information Technology Systems 

Content covers:

• Hardware/Software

• Emerging technologies

• Choosing IT systems

• Transmitting data – networks

• Protecting data and information 

The unit will give you a fundamental understanding of all areas of IT, which supports progression to an IT-related higher education course. 

Unit 2 – Creating Systems to Manage Information 

You will: 

  • Examine a given scenario .
  • Develop an effective design solution to produce a database system. 
  • Test your solution to ensure it works correctly.
  • Evaluate each stage of development. 

Unit 3 – Using Social Media in Business 

You will:

  • Explore how businesses use social media to promote their products and services. 
  • You will implement social media activities in business to meet the requirements. 

You will:

  • Explore the impact of social media on the ways in which businesses promote their products and services. 
  • Develop a plan to use social media in business to meet requirements 
  • Implement the use of social media in a business 

Unit 6 – Website  Development 

You will investigate website development principles and then design and develop a website using scripting languages. 

In this unit you will:

  • Understand the principles of website development.
  • Design a website to meet client requirements. 
  • Develop a website to meet client requirements. 

Entry requirements

Grade 4 in GCSE English and Math’s. Where IT has been previously studied, a L2 Merit (or equivalent)

would be expected. Students will also need a high level of organisation, the ability to prioritise workloads

and to be able to work through problems until they find a solution.
