Details

Students will take 4 units over the two years of the course:

Unit 1 Exploring Business

Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign

Unit 3 Personal and Business Finance

Unit 8 The Recruitment and Selection Process

Units 1,2 and 3 are mandatory and Unit 8 is optional – selected based upon the expertise of staff

within the department. Units 1 and 8 are assessed internally, with students completing a portfolio

of work. Unit 2 and 3 are externally assessed, with examinations based around pre-released

case material. Examinations are 3 hours long.

Entry requirements

Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language/Literature and Mathematics. Where Business has

previously been studied, a grade 5 at GCSE or a Pass at BTEC Level 2.

BTEC Business is a good choice for students who are well organised and able to meet regular

deadlines. It offers an opportunity to work for a qualification which is widely recognised by

employers and higher education providers. Students can apply their own experience of work to

their studies. Level 3 National Extended Certificate is the equivalent of one A Level, with

Distinction* carrying the same values a A*, Distinction A, Merit C and Pass E.
