Design for those seeking employment in the travel industry this course is perfect for those who love the idea of traveling the world, meeting new people, seeing different places within your hard day�s work. If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme.


The course is studied over one year, and upon completion, you will be awarded a subsidiary diploma. The units that you will study during this programme are the UK aviation industry, customer service and meeting customer needs, managing conflict and handling air passengers, and health, safety and security in aviation.

How will it be delivered?

There are a variety of assessment methods which are used such as live projects, report writing, creating displays, PowerPoint presentations and role play assessment.

Entry requirements

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above is required. It is desirable, but not essential that you hold a level 2 Travel Operations qualification. International qualifications will also be considered. Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Your next steps...

Successful completion of this course will give you several options. You may have been offered a job by various companies. Alternatively, you could progress onto the Foundation Degree in Tourism and Events Management (this will be dependant on the individual) or other relevant qualifications. Finally, you may decide to pursue an apprenticeship within the tourism and hospitality industry.
