This course is designed specifically for those who have already completed the Future Pathways one year course and have comfortable made the transition into full-time education.
You will continue to take part in enrichment activities and volunteering experiences to help you to further develop your work, vocational and Independent Living skills.
Additionally, this course supports you in further developing your Maths and English qualifications at an appropriate level.
During this course, you will continue improving your English and maths at a level that is right for you
You will take part in our engaging programme of practical and vocational sessions based both within the college and the local area, these include animal care, how to look after your garden, jam factory, my community and my work skills.
In the first half term, you will take an assessment, during which you will have the opportunity to sample different sessions to those you have undertaken previously to find which sessions challenge and develop your own individual strengths and development goals.
How will it be delivered?
There is no formal assessment criteria, however regular attendance on all your college days is a necessity and we expect you to maintain attendance of 90%.
There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to complete an application form, submit satisfactory references and come for an interview. During your interview, you will meet a member of our team who will give you the opportunity to talk about your future aspirations and any support needs you require.
We will need to see your learning disability assessment or your Education Health and Care plan (EHCP).
Your next steps...
At the end of the course, you will be invited to a review where your progress and aspirations are discussed. Subject to satisfactory attendance and progress you will have the opportunity to apply to the Future Pathways Moving On year 4 course within supported learning that will help you to make informed choices about your options and aspirations after college.
You will also have the opportunity to apply to further courses within the College that match your future aspirations or work-based courses within supported learning. Throughout your time on the course, you will have regular opportunities to meet with your key worker to discuss additional support and development needs.
