What will you be working towards?
Launch Pad programmes are designed to give you the opportunity to develop the essential skills needed to move onto an apprenticeship, voluntary work, employment or further college courses. They are specifically developed for 16-18 year olds but we can also cater for some home-educated young people.
The programme's main focus is English and maths but also includes career pathways, employability skills, work experience, and personal development. There are a number of vocational taster sessions available throughout the year allowing you to to explore practical, vocational options to support your career choice. Whatever the individual existing qualifications, this course will be tailored to meet your individual learning needs.
You should expect to attend College 3 days per week with some elements delivered online. During the course you will develop your English and maths skills and will study other life skills such as healthy eating/cooking, enterprise and employability skills. In addition, you will attend sessions on CV writing and interview techniques. You will complete 22 hours of work experience and take part in the colleges' World of Work program. There is also a strong emphasis on digital skills, including learning how to use Microsoft packages for learning and in employment.
How will it be delivered?
There are end of year exams for English and maths, all other elements of the programme are informally assessed throughout the course.
You will need to pass an interview and demonstrate why you feel Launch Pad is the right course for you.

Upon completion of the programme, you will have the opportunity to apply for a Leicester College course starting from September (eligibility criteria may apply). Alternatively we can offer careers guidance on other options including apprenticeships, traineeships and going into work. Our National Careers Service careers advisers are also available to discuss your options for progression after the course.
