Overview
This course is the natural progression from the BTEC level 3 90 Credit Diploma and is equivalent to three A levels. It is designed to provide you with the opportunity to study a wider range of travel and tourism subjects to complement your existing knowledge and experience. The course includes a variety of enrichment opportunities including guest speakers, day trips and residential trips which are all closely linked to the course content.
If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above at GCSE. You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme.
Details
You will build on your knowledge gained on the 90 credit diploma in Travel and Tourism and cover more in-depth topics such as long-haul destinations, specialist tourism, marketing, events and visitor attractions. Alongside this, you may also have the opportunity to study cabin crew or resort representatives if this is a career path you are interested in pursuing.
How will it be delivered?
Assessments will be a mix of assignments, live projects, presentations and displays.
Entry requirements
You will need to have successfully completed your BTEC level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Travel and Tourism and have demonstrated excellent attendance at 90% or above. You will also need to provide one reference and a GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above.
Your next steps...
Successful completion of this qualification will allow you to progress onto the Foundation Degree in Tourism and Events Management at Leicester College or a degree programme at another provider. Alternatively, you may wish to start your career within the travel industry. We have very successful progression into employment with former students working for Swissport, Premier Inn and Jet2 Airlines.
