The Supported Internship is focused on giving you the skills and experience that employers are looking for. The internship involves a Study Programme which includes English, Maths, Work Preparation, an Employability and Personal and Social Development Award/Certificate at Level 1/2, and a high quality work experience placement. The Supported Internship has many benefits; you will be in a better position to compete for an apprenticeship or other job as you will have gained employability skills. You will also build your CV and get vital work experience. You will improve your Maths and English and you will have confidence in travelling independently.
You will work closely with the employer and your Internship Tutor to ensure that the placement is in an appropriate area of interest. You will be supported in your placement by frequent visits by your Tutor and regular feedback from your employer.
You must be between 16 and 24 years of age and only have qualifications at Entry or Level 1 and 2. Have a statement of Special Needs and/or an Education Health Care (EHC) Plan and have employment as your main focus. You must really want to work and be at the right stage in your learning and development to benefit from a supported internship. You must be able to manage your behaviour and emotions in the workplace and be able to travel independently.
