If you would you like to learn the skill and knowledge required for a career in the Fire or Police Services, Prison Service, or Armed Forces, then Public Service courses could be for you. Our course offers a comprehensive introduction to the different public services and how they work, both individually and together, and you will gain an understanding of the levels of health and fitness required to enter the industry.
This qualification has been developed to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of public service areas from uniformed roles in defence, emergency, security and justice, to non-uniformed roles in central and local government. You will gain a wide range of transferable skills needed for public service employment and have the opportunity to be involved in taster sessions, trips and visits from guest speakers. You will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in current and future employment, or for progression to courses such as BTEC Higher Nationals, Foundation degrees or Honours degrees.
The course will be enhanced with outside speakers coming into college from the Army, RAF and Police.

5 or more GCSEs grade C/4 or above including English Language and where possible a grade D/3 or above in Maths.
It would also be beneficial to have a relevant Level 2 qualification in Public Services at a merit grade.
