Overview

Throughout this course, you will have the opportunity to learn a variety of essential and credible skills across different software packages. Independent research and through different means of assessment, the vocational course will allow you to demonstrate your understanding clearly to your teachers.

Details

OCR Cambridge Technical Level 3 ICT can be studies as the Introductory Diploma (single – 5 units over 2 years, 1 A level) or Diploma (double – 11 units over 2 years, 2 A Levels).

The course will be useful for any career which requires Information Technology skills or onto a variety of courses such as Multimedia, Computing, Information Systems and Engineering.  

Each unit will be taught by a different teacher. You will be expected to meet all deadlines and submit all tasks and the final assignment on all agreed deadlines.  

Students are also presented with an assessment sheet for each unit they study, in order for them to independently identify and complete tasks to the grade they want to achieve.  


How will it be delivered?

Lessons will be taught in the networked ICT rooms and the Information Technology Classroom. The department has built up a vast array of resource, which lends itself to varied teaching approaches.

A significant amount of the course is of a practical nature and there will be the need for students to work in their own time on exercises and assignments.   

 An interest and awareness in current Information Technology issues is essential. The units will be assessed by internal (Portfolio) assessment. Some units are externally assessed(exam) assessment. Units 1,2,3 are externally assessed.   


Entry requirements

For all Level 3 pathways five passes (9-4) or more at GCSE's are required including at least Grade 4 in Maths and / or English Language.

Merit at Level 2 if taken; Grade 5 in GCSE Maths.

A positive attitude and commitment to the subject is expected. Information Technology is an exciting subject, at the cutting edge of new technologies. Students will need to be prepared to research and keep up to date with new technology advances.
