How will it be delivered?
At AS Level:
Performance Recital - a minimum of two contrasting pieces of at least grade 6 standard. A recorded unit lasting not less than 6 minutes.
Composition - You will compose two pieces. One of them on a brief set by the exam board, and the other set in consultation with your teacher. Both pieces will need to be fully notated and the scores are submitted to the exam board.
Listening and Appraising - analysing music through a detailed study of set works, learning about unfamiliar music and answering questions related to recorded extracts.
Summary: Formal assessment will consist of a recorded recital given in front of an audience; the submission of two compositions in score; a written exam for Listening and Appraising music, including the set works you have studied.
Entry requirements
5 Grade 4’s and above to include a 4 in GCSE Music if taken.
Performance standard of at least grade 5 (Trinity College / ABRSM) or equivalent.
Theory level of working towards grade 5 (ABRSM) or equivalent.
