Overview
This is a 2 year course
Successful completion of the course requires the student to complete 6 units. Two units are compulsory the other units are taken from a wide range of options depending on which certification path (ASM or Costume) the candidate is following.
The course is very practical and the students provide technical support to school productions. Each unit consists of a theoretical section that usually results in an essay on a particular topic and a practical section where the student researches, produces and evaluates some aspect of theatre or live performance often producing an artefact such as a prop or costume or an effect such as sound, lighting or make-up. Current units include Special effects, Puppet Design, Puppet Operation, Costume Design, Costume Making, Sound Operations, Lighting operations, Production Art Workshop, Period Props.

How will it be delivered?
All assessments are internally marked and externally validated. Assessment involves production of essays, log books, diaries, practical activities and teacher observation.

Entry requirements
Preferably completed the BTEC L2 Performance Technology course. However the course is open to all who have a genuine interest in theatre and related activities and who prefer a practical approach to learning.
