Overview
What is chemistry?
A Level Chemistry will give you an exciting insight into the contemporary world of chemistry. It covers the key concepts of chemistry and practical skills are integrated throughout the course. This combination of academic challenge and practical focus makes the prospect of studying A Level Chemistry highly appealing. You will learn about chemistry in a range of different contexts and the impact it has on industry and many aspects of everyday life. You will learn to investigate and solve problems in a range of contexts.
Details
- Module 1: Development of practical skills – this module underpins the whole of the specification, and covers the practical skills that students should develop throughout the course. The practical skills in this module can be assessed within written examinations and (for A Level only) within the Practical Endorsement.
- Module 2: Foundations in chemistry covering concepts required throughout the remaining modules.
- Module 3: Periodic Table and Energy
- Module 4: Core Organic Chemistry
- Module 5: Physical Chemistry and Transition Metals
- Module 6: Organic Chemistry and Analysis
How will it be delivered?
- Paper 1 assesses the content from Modules 1, 2, 3 and 5
- Paper 2 assesses the content from Modules 1, 2, 4 and 6
- Paper 3 assesses the content from Modules 1 to 6.
Entry requirements
At least a grade 6 in Chemistry or grades 6/6 in Double Science plus a minimum grade 5 in Mathematics
