This course really focuses on the vocational aspects of Psychology so you will find a lot of teaching is based on case studies. There will also be group discussions, case study work, presentations, guest speakers, creation of resources, individual research, role play and so on.
All students take 3 core units:
- Psychological Approaches and Applications
- Conducting Psychological Research
- Health Psychology
You will also take one optional unit such as:
- Criminal and Forensic Psychology
- Promoting Children's Psychological Development
- Introduction to Psychopathology
- Applied Sport Psychology
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade A*- C or 4 - 9, or equivalent, including a C or 4 in English Language, Maths and two Science GCSEs .
Level 3 courses earn you UCAS points allowing you to take on HND/ HNC or honours degrees. Students can go in to careers such as teaching, early years education, sports coaching and many more.
What does the course combine well with?
Complementary subjects are Sociology, Health & Social Care, Biology and Sport. Students can also take complementary courses such as Science, especially if interested in a career in Psychology or Sport Psychology.
This course is equivalent to 1 A Level and has comparable UCAS points.
