Overview

For those that love reading this course is similar to the GCSE course in that students study a range of literature. Lessons are focused on debating stories and genres, exploring characterisations, analysing language and considering the relevance of the world in which the texts were created. Students will study two Shakespeare plays: Othello and King Richard II, some poetry by a range of authors including Tennyson and Auden, modern novels such as Brighton Rock and Atonement and also have the opportunity to pick their favourite texts to write a critical response too.
