Mathematics is an essential discipline for the modern world in which solving problems, dealing with data and applying logic are a constant challenge. Mathematics is a demanding but interesting course that builds on the work you have met at GCSE, but also involves many new ideas. It is useful as a support for many areas of study and enhances learning in a number of other subjects at both AS/A2 and higher levels.

During an A Level in Mathematics you will:

• Use mathematical skills and knowledge to solve problems

• Solve quite complicated problems by using mathematical arguments and logic

• Understand and demonstrate what is meant by proof in mathematics

• Simplify real-life situations so that you can use mathematics to show what is happening and what might happen in different circumstances

• Use the mathematics that you learn to solve problems that are given to you

in a real-life context

• Use calculator technology and other resources effectively and appropriately; understand its limitations and when it is inappropriate to use such technology

How will it be delivered?
