What is Further Mathematics? The abstract science of number, quantity and space studied in its own right as Pure Mathematics or as applied to other disciplines such as physics, Engineering and statistics. Why study Further Mathematics? To develop the powers of logic, reasoning and problem solving beyond that of a single mathematics course.
The standard offer for all A level programmes is 5 subject passes at Grade 5.This must include English Language and Maths. For some subjects such as Further Maths ,Science and psychology, there will be additional requirements.
The prospective student must have shown a good understanding in Mathematics covered in the GCSE course. A minimum of a grade 7 is required.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 in Further Mathematics, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Mathematics, related areas such as Engineering, Economics, Physics or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Mathematics. The qualification will also help you developgeneral skills that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
