Module 1 – Development of Practical Skills in Biology
Module 2 – Foundations in Biology – biological molecules, cell organisation and division
Module 3 – Exchange and transport – plants and animals
Module 4 – Biodiversity, evolution and disease
Year 13:
Module 1 – Development of Practical Skills in Biology
Module 5 – Communications, homeostasis and energy
Module 6 – Genetics, evolution and ecosystems

AS - Level

June of Year 12

Breadth in Biology assesses content from all AS modules (50%) - 90 minute exam

Depth in Biology assesses content from all AS modules (50%) – 90 minute exam

Practical endorsement – reported separately and examined in the other components

A-Level

June of Year 13

Biological processes - assesses content from modules 1, 2, 3 and 5 (37%) – minute exam  

Biological diversity - assesses content from modules 1, 2, 4 and 6 (37%) -   minute exam  

Unified biology - assesses content from all modules (26%) – 90 minute exam

Practical endorsement - reported separately and examined in the other components

Exam Board: OCR Biology

Entry requirements

5 Grade 4’s and above to include Grade 6 in GCSE Biology or Double Science and Grade 6 in Mathematics.
